Hostess Cakes/Wonderbread

 Pacific Environmental has had the opportunity to help meet the requirements of the environmental agencies and air quality districts for the Interstate Brands in Southern California.  Being amongst the largest bread product production companies in the world, Interstate Brands Corporation emits ethanol (from the fermentation of yeast) into the atmosphere.  Ethanol, a volatile organic compound (VOC), when mixed with oxygen and sunlight, causes smog and creates ozone in the lower atmosphere.  

Pacific Environmental has aided in the destruction of harmful contaminants in numerous IBC bakeries around Southern California including Millbrook Glendale, Millbrook Los Angeles, Dolly Madison, Wonderbread Pomona, and more.  Typically, the EPA and other local regulatory agencies require a VOC destruction rate of 95% and some times higher.  Pacific Environmental provided the equipment and the consultation necessary to achieve this regulation.  

For Dolly Madison Bakery a catalytic recuperative oxidizer was installed to attend to the 3000 SCFM that was flowing from the ovens.  New platinum catalysts were also installed in order to lower the residence time and significantly decrease operational costs by using less natural gas to destroy the VOCs.  

Similarly in Millbrook Glendale and in Millbrook Los Angeles, catalytic recuperative oxidizers were installed into the bakeries.  The catalytic recuperative oxidizer is a popular choice for bakeries because of its reputed performance.  

Pacific Environmental’s monthly services prevent unnecessary costly complications to arise, as the disregard of routine check-ups or of replacement of filters and different parts can lead to major problems.
